Why ProAlgebra exists

Malaysia faces declining mathematics performance, with low PISA scores and high SPM failure rates. Too many students reach secondary school without a solid grip on algebra, and teachers have little time to find out who is struggling before it is too late.

What it is

ProAlgebra is a Malaysia-curriculum digital learning tool that applies three proven principles. Students work through levelled quizzes and cannot move on until they have mastered each subtopic, while teachers see live analytics and plan targeted interventions aligned with PBD policy.

Mastery learning

Every subtopic has five question sets. A student passes only by getting all five right, then the next subtopic unlocks.

Immediate feedback

A wrong answer shows the worked solution straight away, then offers a fresh question on the same skill.

Real-time analytic dashboards

Teachers see mastery and attempt counts per student and per subtopic, so weak topics stand out at a glance.

How it was built

  1. 1

    Analysis

Reviewed SPM and PISA data and engaged with teachers and students.

  2. 2

    Planning

Defined the system scope, user roles and AI use cases.

  3. 3

    Designing

System architecture, user interface mockups and database structure.

  4. 4

    Development

Built the web application and connected it to OpenAI for guided solutions.

  5. 5

    Pilot test

Pre-test, post-test, survey and interview with secondary students, followed by system enhancement.
